Nvidia: An example of excellent management

  • by

Founded in 1993, Nvidia has been a major player in the technology industry for many years. Thanks to its revolution in the world of GPU graphics processors and artificial intelligence, Nvidia has rapidly climbed to the top in the last two years.

Nvidia’s success: a mastered strategy or a stroke of luck?

Behind this success is a visionary who anticipated trends in the technology market: Jensen Huang, the company’s co-founder and CEO. He has consistently invested in research and development, to the tune of 25% of sales. Thanks to his strategic management, he has managed to maintain his competitive edge.

Having anticipated the artificial intelligence revolution, Nvidia is well prepared for this trend: Nvidia processors are the key to faster, more efficient development of artificial intelligence.

The strong growth in algorithmic intelligences began with the launch of the Beta version of ChatGPT, an AI solution launched by OpenAI, a leader in the field. This launch was quickly followed by numerous AI solutions such as Gemini and Claude.

A rapidly evolving global strategy

Initially, Nvidia focused on graphics cards for video games. Jensen Huang’s long-term vision and anticipation of market needs enabled Nvidia to diversify its business and move increasingly into the fields of algorithms and artificial intelligence. Today, Nvidia is by far the market leader, with 80% market share in the discrete GPU sector.

Skyrocketing figures

Jensen Huang’s winning strategy paid off: the company recorded 171% revenue growth in this segment between 2022 and 2023. This success doesn’t stop here: in June 2024, Nvidia’s market capitalization surpassed those of Apple and Microsoft, placing it at the top of the stock market.

The share price today is $117, compared with $41 a year ago. A remarkable increase that has not gone unnoticed. Investors who have included this stock in their investment portfolios have been able to realize very attractive returns.

Nvidia’s success is the result of a highly intelligent strategy and continuous innovation. However, the company faces increasing competition from the likes of AMD and Intel. Despite these challenges, Nvidia looks well positioned to maintain its dominance for the foreseeable future.
